How to Unzip a Compressed Zipped Folder
Compressing a file or folder allows you to reduce a its size to allow for more rapid file transferring. It also reduces the amount of space it uses on a storage device. To open a zipped file, you must have a program designed for this purpose. WinZip, a free data-compression and file-archive program, opens and extracts zipped files to a designated location on your computer.
Difficulty: Moderately EasyInstructions1Go to the WinZip website and click "Download WinZip."
2Click "Download WinZip Now" and select "Save."
3Choose a location to save the file and click "Save."
4Double click the downloaded file and follow the instructions to install the program.
5Navigate to the location of your zipped file.
6Double click the file and choose "Use Evaluation Version." If prompted, select "Yes" to associate all .zip files with WinZip. WinZip opens your zipped file and displays it in the program.
7Right click the file or folder and select "Extract." Choose a destination folder and select "Extract."
8Close WinZip and navigate to the file or folder's location. Your file or folder is unzipped.
