How to Include Yourself in Pictures on the Octopus Steals Camera

updated: February 15, 2011 An octopus has strong tentacles that allow it to hold objects, even a digital camera!

The viral Internet video "Octopus Steals Camera" involves a diver whose camera was snatched away by the tentacles of a curious octopus, which proceeded to inadvertently snap a few photos before the digital camera was retrieved. A fun way to create a greeting card or picture is to take the still images from the video and insert your face in the pictures. You can do this using photo editing programs, which can be downloaded online.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy1

Search on the Internet for still images from the viral video "Octopus Steals Camera." You can find images of the octopus itself or some of the pictures the octopus managed to snap, depending on where you want to put yourself in the pictures.

2

Save the image or images to a designated "Pictures" folder on your computer's hard drive. This way, you will be able to easily find and open the files when you are ready to edit them.

3

Open or download photo editing software. These programs include Adobe Photoshop, Gimp and Cine Paint. Use the program's menu to open a new file within the program, and browse for the image you want to edit.

4

Open a second picture in the photo editing program; this will be the one with the image of yourself that you want to edit into the "Octopus Steals Camera" picture.

5

Use the pen or highlighting tool to select which parts of the image -- your face or body -- you want to put into the picture with the octopus.

6

Cut and paste the image of yourself into the octopus image. Use the editing tools in the program to edit how the images blend into one another.
